Lash Lift treatments are getting more and more popular over time, some people may think this is a new treatment, but in fact is has been around since the '80s.

What is a Lash Lift?

Lash lift is a technique that uses your own lashes and curls them from the base without using mascara or a curler, achieving much longer and fuller lashes for up to 8 weeks! Sounds like a dream right? But you probably hear about something called Lash Perm and wondered if is the same thing? Is not, and I will explain why. Technology has evolved over the years, new techniques and formulations have been made since early 2000 achieving better results and minimizing potential risks to clients.

Lash Perm vs Lash Lift

Back in the days Lash perms were the new sensation, formulations that use ammonia are often used for a lash perm, hence the name perm, because the formula is very similar to hair perming.

Another characteristic of lash perms is the material used to curl the lashes, a soft like a sponge in the shape of a rod.

Lash lift formulations have been upgraded to a better version that doesn't use ammonia in its formula. Ammonia is known to be dangerous to the eyes, also can give a brittle look to the lashes, even damaging them. Another difference is the material used on lash lift nowadays, a silicone pad that adheres to the skin giving a much more realist look, without overruling them.

Now that you know the main difference between Lash Perm and Lash lift, here some of the most common questions I receive about the lash lift treatment.

How long does it take?

The whole process can take from 45min to 1 hour, depending on your lash size, is very relaxing and painless.

Is there any aftercare?

Aftercare is crucial for lasting results, I recommend not getting your lashes wet for 24hours after getting your lashes done.

How long does a Lash Lift last?

I usually say it can last from 6-8 weeks but that will vary on you lash regrowth circle, and your lifestyle, getting the, wet constantly and wearing mascara can reduce the longevity of a lash lift.

Can I have my lashes tinted?

Yes, most of the times I will tint your lashes on the same session.

Lastly but not least, researching to find a reputable place for this procedure is very important, although the formulations these days are much improved, ammonia products still available for purchase and some therapists still may use them! Usually, the cost of ammonia-based products is less, so be wary of really good deals on prices for lash lift. In Australia, anywhere between $90 to $140 is a standard price, but please remember price won't guarantee the quality, you still need to do your research to find a qualified professional to perform this treatment.
